This will be a Zoom-based weekend sesshin for experienced members of the UK sangha. It is not suitable for complete beginners – please consult your Head of Dojo if you are unsure about this

To take part you will need:

  • a mobile phone, tablet or computer
  • a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed
  • a zafu, bench or chair
  • comfortable clothing
  • previous experience of zazen
  • a completed registration form

The sesshin will be broadcast from Bristol Zen Dojo, and will be led by Guy Mokuhō Mercier, who will participate via video link from the Lanau Zen Centre

The Lanau Zen Centre is the outcome of the project of the Tenbôrin Association founded by Guy Mokuhō Mercier and some disciples and friends. Situated in the Cantal region of central France,  it is near the villages of Lanau-Neuvéglise (near Saint-Flour) next to the river Truyère

It is a communal and inter-generational place of life where all residents and visitors follow a rhythm of daily life which includes meditation (zazen) and inter-relationships consistent  with the teachings of Buddhism

09:30 – 09:50  Ceremony – broadcast from Bristol Zen Dojo

10:05 – 11:05  Coffee and Chosan, with Chris Seiho Preist and Guy Mokuho Mercier. Theme; Practice and Life in the time of COVID.

11:30 – 12:40 Two 30-minute zazen periods with kinhin between them

<BREAK> Lunch and rest period

16:00 – 16:35  One 30-minute zazen period finishing with kinhin
