About the teacher
Taiun Jean-Pierre Faure, born 1945, is the father of three children. He holds a PhD in physics and has been practising zazen since 1977. He was ordained a monk by Master Deshimaru in 1981. He created the Marrakech Dojo, then became head of the Toulon Dojo. From 1997 to 2002 he was the head of La Gendronnière Temple. 20 years after the death of Master Taisen Deshimaru, Taiun received Dharma transmission from Master Dônin Minamisawa Zenji (Head of Eiheiji Temple in Japan) and became a certified teacher of the Sôtô Zen School. He is the founding abbot of Kanshoji Temple in La Coquille, near Limoges, France (www.kanshoji.org)
Sesshin Details
The sesshin will take place over six days and include teaching, training, and sewing. If you can’t attend the full sesshin, it’s possible to come for a shorter period.
Arrive – 23 May from 4pm.
Depart – 29 May at 4pm, after clean up. Please plan on staying for clean-up. We will need your help.

By train: It’s a short walk from Liverpool Lime Street Station to Liverpool Central Station. Take the Southport train (every 15 minutes) to Blundellsands & Crosby Station and then a two-mile taxi ride or half hour easy walk across fields to the CHET Centre. (DELTA Taxis, Crosby: 0151 924 7373)
What to bring
Dark, loose-fitting clothes for zazen and clothes for samu (work in the kitchen, cleaning, or gardening); a towel and toiletries; indoor shoes or slippers; a zafu and zafuton (meditation cushion and mat) if you have them (spares available); a mug, spoon, fork or chopsticks; three nesting bowls (the largest approx 13cm in diameter – any bowls will do), and a cloth (e.g. tea towel) to wrap the bowls.
Annual General Meeting of the Friends of IZAUK will take place at this sesshin on Monday 26 May in the afternoon. It will include the election of the Friends’ Trustee.

Stays of less than 4 days
